THE ISTD Diploma in Dance Pedagogy (DDP) offers you the opportunity to gain an

internationally recognised teaching qualification alongside your BA dance degree

workshops & seminars in the areas of:

choreography & applied dance science

reflective practice & safe dance practice

The DDP is delivered, mentored and assessed by MDX dance faculty for the ISTD.

BELOW ARE EXAMPLES OF UNIT OPTIONS AVAILABLE:

On completion of the DDP

you can apply for the internationally recognised teaching qualification 

QTLS (Qualified Teacher Learning & Skills)

To teach in schools you must hold QTLS STATUS

and BE a member of the Society for Education & Training

Once you achieve QTLS, you’ll be added to the professional register where

future employers can check your status.

The Level 6 Diploma in Dance Pedagogy (DDP) is a regulated dance teaching qualification.

The curriculum places emphasis on the various ways that dance can be delivered AND underpinned by theory and critical analysis, SO students 

graduate as confident, versatile, and highly proficient dance teachers

The DDP is regulated at Level 6 which is equivalent to the final year of an undergraduate degreE

About the ISTD contemporary DANCE syllabi:

Created by Dr Ross McKim, dancer, choreographer, philosopher,

& Artistic Director of the Rambert School OF BALLET & CONTEMPORARY DANCE (1985–2015)

the ISTD Contemporary dance syllabus work is informed by Eastern concepts of subtle energy &

draws influence from choreographers SUCH AS Martha Graham, Erick Hawkins & Robert Cohan

TheRE ARE three levels > Intermediate Foundation, Intermediate & Advanced 1

providING a progressive training method which introduce studentS to the fundamentals of contemporary dance technique & performance

through the study of different movement themes at each level specially created solos & the inclusion of structured improvisation

enablING students to explore, develop & create their own movement vocabulary

ISTD MEMBERSHIP

begin with a basic membership while studying
