ONÉ HART

Oné Hart is an ambitious dancer and teacher from the beautiful island of Bermuda. Oné started dancing with Somerset School of Dance at the age of three. She trained in Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Hip Hop until she was 11, when she fell out of likes for dance. Growing up, she always sang and danced around the house, at school - everywhere, and could often be heard saying "I want to be like Beyoncé when I grow up." Whether she knew it or not, she has always loved the performing arts. During her last year at T.N. Tatem Middles School, she had the opportunity to choreograph a Hip Hop routine for the school's annual December Fest, which reignited her passion for dance. Oné continued her enthusiasm for the performing arts at the Berkeley Institute. She joined GCSE Drama class and participated in several musicals and plays, including 'Fame', 'Peter Pan', and 'Elf'. In 2015, Bermuda Dance Academy opened its doors and invited Oné to photograph its students for promotional material. At this moment, it was evident she possessed technical dance skills, was capable of managing the students effortlessly and was asked to join Bermuda Dance Academy as an assistant teacher. Joining Bermuda Dance Academy helped Oné realise that she lives to dance and shaped her into the dancer and teacher she is today. Teaching at Bermuda Dance Academy opened her mind and heart to a world she did not know she belonged in it. It helped her see that her love for dance goes beyond just wanting to perform and choreograph; teaching made her realise that her passion is teaching others how to create, explore, and express themselves as they see fit. In addition to Oné's responsibilities as the Ballet/Jazz and Hip Hop instructor at Bermuda Dance Academy and summer camp specialist, Oné received First Aid and Safeguarding certification and her Ontario College Diploma in Dance Performance at Centennial College in Canada. While studying at Centennial College, she completed her diploma online due to Covid-19. She trained in ballet, jazz, contemporary dance, acrobatics, commercial dance, African dance, indigenous dance and flamenco. Oné also took up choreography and stretch, strength and technique courses. Completing a dance program entirely online meant many times she had to dance outside on grass or concrete for her to film assignments and assessments because the room she was using as a studio was not big enough for her to dance full out. Online studies had challenges, but instead of discouraging her, she was motivated to keep going and saty persistent with her passion. During the summer months, she worked as the dance specialist at the Bermuda Government Department of Youth, Sport and Recreation summer day camp in June 2022 and June 2023. Oné is continuing her studies at Middlesex University London to pursue a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Dance Practices. While at Middlesex, Oné is training in multiple contemporary techniques, including Cunningham, Humphrey, and Graham. Aside from contemporary, she is also training in urban and taking a safe dance practice course.
